Here’s part of the press release, sent Saturday, midway through the weekend festival. Chill out, you guys. Your festival rocks. We all know it. Much better this year than last. Great job! And thanks for making sure we know:

Asheville, NC – The Mountain Sports Festival has already experienced record attendance with over 2500 enjoying the sounds Laura Reed & Deep Pocket Friday night May 30 in the Festival Village at Carrier Park, and record participation in a number of the mountain sport events. Saturday morning over 1500 runners hit the streets of Asheville in the Mission Hospital Sunset Stampede 10k and WonderGirl 5k. Also Saturday, starting at Carrier Park, 175 cyclists peddled into the mountains in the first annual Metric Century Wheel Ride for Food. The riders raised enough funds to take 30 people off of the local Meals on Wheels waiting list, and provide them with meals for 1 year.
As of 5pm Saturday May 31 already 3000 had gathered in the Festival Village at Carrier to soak up the sun, tour all the exhibits, watch demonstrations and listen to the sounds of SeepeopleS and Ba Man Bia.
