The new CitiStop on Charlotte Street

CitiStop on Charlotte Street re-opened after a major renovation. The new store, updated with modern decor, fancy coffee equipment and the unveiling of an original tongue-and-groove wood ceiling, really sparkles, especially in contrast to the old shop. Old garage bay doors now serve as giant roll-up windows.

The station used to sell BP gasoline. After last year’s BP oil spill, it is now selling Shell-branded gasoline. Stop by and check out the store – you’ll be impressed by the makeover.

Full disclosure: My mother works for the Asheville company that owns several CitiStops around town.

If my memory is correct, Brixx was looking at the old Gulf station right next to Charlotte St. Bar and Grill. Any construction going on there?

So have they been selling Shell gasoline for 13 months but just now getting around to renovating? Are all of the the other BP stations that have been renovated into Shell stations owned by the same Citizens Fuel Co? I can think of a few other than this one – Haywood Rd. @ Vermont Ave, Patton Ave @ Johnston Blvd, Tunnel Rd @ Kenilworth Rd.

Can't live without my copy eds. Thank you.

SuckIt – I'll check on Brixx. I'd forgotten about that one. And great news for Rocky's!

    Hey Ash,

Any news on Brixx Pizza coming to Charlotte St? I thought it was going in the location you mentioned in this post, but guess not. I didn't find any other former gas stations under construction on Charlotte.

Also, according to Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack's facebook, they are hoping for a July 4th opening, FYI.

Is the ceiling tongue-in-groove or tongue and groove? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongue_and_groove

Of course, you may have been writing tongue-in-cheek.
