I received my notice in the mail on Tuesday, Sept. 1, that Charter Communications was making major changes to its channel line-up effective — wait for it — on Aug. 25.

Gee, thanks Charter!

I hoping to give Uverse a try when they get to our neighborhood.

Charter customer serverice is the absolute worse. DirecTv is so much easier and I’ve never had a single problem with them.

Got ours in the mail yesterday–two months after we had to cancel our account because Charter didn’t think our new 300-home subdivision was worth the effort for them to provide service. The good news for us about this big channel snafu is that it pretty much eliminates what we had missed about Charter: knowing where the channels are. DirecTV’s channel lineup makes absolutely no sense, but neither does Charter’s, anymore, so I’ve lost any longing for the "good old days" of Charter.

    I never bit.

DirecTV was my main provider for years, but fee creep finally pushed me over to Dish Network.

As soon as the two year contract over, I’m going to have them pull the dish off the roof. What with iTunes, Boxee, youtube and Digital TV my need for a TV is nil.

And then there is the radio… probably the best information and entertainment financially.

Same here in Black Mountain. When I called to ask they snippily read me the letter they said they had mailed with the new line up…! Not their fault that I didn’t get it!’

How come they can get the bill to us in a timely manner but not this kind of informaiton. TG for Tivo…it knew the new channel line up before we did! Never missed a beat.

I think Charter owes us all an apology at the very least.

Charter is such a mess. And if you call them with a problem they attempt to aggressively sell you additional services. Yeah. Wonder if Verizon offers internet around Fairview yet…. They aren’t perfect by any means either, but sheesh.

got mine late too… AND some of the channels i pay for and previously received are now "access denied"… so now i guess i get the joy of sitting of the phone with charter customer "service" for an hour or so to get what i am already supposed to have. oh what fun!

They stayed with their old channel line-up for years and years and I knew exactly where the channels I wanted to watch were. Now I can’t find a darn thing I want to watch without flipping through every channel until I find it. I got one of those handy-dandy guides to the new lineup, but misplaced it somewhere, so now I’m lost. I don’t see how they think this type of thing is convenient to their customers in any way. They said something about grouping channels together so it would be easier than ever to find your favorite shows. Easier than going directly to the channel I knew it was on for the past several years? No, not really.

Same "timely" notice here, Ash. Still trying to figure it all out using the new, handy-handy, microscopic print guide I also just received. All I know for sure is Charter sucks big-time!

My On TV directory is still set to the old channels and has not changed to the new format.

    What should I do?

    Maybe switch to Direct TV?

Charter Communications bought by Microsoft’s co-founder Paul Allen’s Vulcan Ventures in 1999, is the worst cable company around. I guess there goes his decade old dream of a "wired world". It just goes to show having all that money does not make for a successful business. With their stock trading today at 3 that’s THREE cents a share it makes you wonder how they can stay afloat?
