Press release here:

In 1913, E.W. Pearson (a true pioneer) started the Buncombe District Agriculture Fair & Farmers Jubilee. The African-American Fair lasted for over 30 years and drew fair-goers, both black & white, in droves (largest crowds neared 10,000!)
This year, the Burton Street Community continues this tradition with our 2nd annual revival of the Burton Street Agriculture Fair & Farmers Jubilee! being held on September 24th at the Burton Street Recreation Center Grounds from 1 – 8 pm.
Festivities will include: BICYCLE PARADE w/ “MOVING PLANET,” COMMUNITY & GARDEN TOURS, BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT, BLUE RIBBON CONTESTS, KIND’S VILLAGE & GAMES, FARMERS MARKET, MURAL PROJECT, LOCAL FOOD VENDORS, ARTS & CRAFTS BOOTHS, HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT, LIVE MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT, COMMUNITY STORY-COLLECTING BOOTH, and more…
Check out our website www.burtonstreet.org for more information and a complete line-up of activities, entertainment, & food! Event on Facebook.
