Great line-up! Press release here:

The 8th annual Mountain Song Festival, hosted by local favorites the Steep Canyon Rangers is gearing up to take place on September 13th and 14th at the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, NC. This year’s line-up includes the O’Brien Three (featuring Tim and Mollie O’Brien), The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Shannon Whitworth, Shawn Camp, Balsam Range, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

Mountain Song Festival is unique in many ways, it is a benefit for the Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County, and the festival expects to exceed a total of $300,000 raised after this year’s event. The festivals co-founders, Woody Platt of the Steep Canyon Rangers, and John Felty are committed to utilizing local resources, and creating community and local connections surrounding the event. The sponsors of the festival are all local or have a strong local connection, they use 200 volunteers and paid staff who are all local residents, Brevard College provides the festival with committed and engaged students who contribute their time and enthusiasm. Eagles Nest and the Outdoor Academy bring their students for the day to volunteer and it’s also an educational experience for them to participate in the festivals recycling and composting program. Mountain Song Festival is committed to being green and they have been able to remove from the waste stream over 80% of waste generated at the event through their recycling and composting efforts and strive to improve on that every year.

This is a great music festival right in Asheville’s beautiful backyard.
