native_eyewear_brevardNative Eyewear is preparing to train a massive spotlight on Brevard in 2014.

Last year, Brevard won the company’s “Locals Only Project” after it beat out Cody, Wyoming, Taos, New Mexico, Truckee, Calif., and Flagstaff, Ariz. The project seeks out cool mountain towns, its local talent and its best local adventures, all through social media. Then the company curates those stories, which become content for Native Eyewear’s national catalog, as well as branding materials. Previous winners include Boulder, Colo., and Whitefish, Montana.

The company says it also invests in the winning communities through a grant program that allows local organizations to compete to win funding from Native Eyewear.

In August, the Native Eyewear team travelled to Brevard and linked up with local writers, filmmakers and photographers selected by fans. The local crew was paid by Native Eyewear to tell their stories their own way. All that was gathered and is now coming together in Native Eyewear’s national catalog, as well as in trade show displays and point-of-purchase marketing materials. On Monday, Native posted on Facebook that it was finalizing the catalog. There will be a party in Brevard to celebrate, as well.

Why is Brevard so special? Here’s a tidbit from Native in its Locals Only Project announcement:

Brevard is one mountain town that is especially easy to love. Surrounded by almost 100,000 acres of public lands and boasting the largest concentration of waterfalls in North America, the community serves as a base camp for virtually every kind of outdoor adventure, from rock climbing to mountain biking to whitewater rafting.

Stay tuned for more.
