BookOpolis celebrates its 5th anniversary at Asheville BookWorks in West Asheville. Artists’ books, posters and other print media are on exhibit at this exciting event. Opening reception is Friday September 25 from 6-9PM. Saturday, September 26 noon-6PM features hands-on activities and demos of papermaking and other printing processes. Bring a blank shirt to print on! We’ll have several silkscreen designs to choose from. Or try letterpress and take home a letterpress sample – as well as loads of creative inspiration!

The exhibit showcases artwork featuring the unique aspects of the book form: multiple surfaces, development of ideas across time, integration of image and text, interesting combinations of concept and structure, and works that take advantage of opportunities offered by this form for interactive and installation-like expression.

Asheville BookWorks is a community resource for print and book arts in Asheville and the South East. Classes are held at the studio year round. Instructors include many of the area’s finest artists and nationally renowned artists working in the highly creative field of book arts and printing. The studio has a broad range of equipment for printing and papermaking and has recently expanded into screenprinting.
