Perhaps the longest-running public bluegrass and old-time music jam in a private home in Western North Carolina, Mrs. Hyatt’s Music House, will celebrate the 93rd birthday of Nelia Hyatt on Sunday.

If you’ve never checked out this down-home jam, you’re missing out on a true institution here in Asheville. Fiddlers, pickers and players have been getting together at Mrs. Hyatt’s house for decades to share music. Here’s more, from the Mrs. Hyatt’s Music House page on Facebook:

Mrs. Hyatt’s Music House

627 Brevard Road

Asheville, NC

This year marks an extra special Event!! We invite you to celebrate the 93rd Birthday of Nelia Hyatt on SUNDAY, June 13th 2PM -10PM. JamFest has been an annual gathering of the friends and family of Mrs. Hyatt, as well as the legions of musicians that have played music at the Hyatt’s long-running Music House. We are inviting all the bluegrass and old-time mountain musicians to gather together to play and jam.

In addition, we are asking all our friends, fans, family and musicians to celebrate the wedding of Karen Cogdill, Mrs. Hyatt’s grand-daughter, and Evan Reilly.
Karen and Evan met at Mrs. Hyatt’s Music House and it is fitting that they join with Mrs. Hyatt in celebrating the occasion.

We invite all musicians to bring acoustic instruments.

Please bring a covered dish or other food item. Bring a chair.
