I’m not sure why the folks considering a run for Ashvegas mayor are being so shy lately, but City Councilwoman Terry Bellamy broke the silence today and declared her intentions to run again for the seat. She’s the first to declare for mayor.

Just as we predicted in an earlier post (click on Ashvegas politics at the bottom of the post to read it), Bellamy and her coterie of followers flocked down to the Board of Elections office to pony up the 75 bucks or whatever it is to run.

I wasn’t there, but here’s how I picture the scene: there were photos flashed; a little speech; much hand-clapping. All for a non-player on the council, a politician who has staked out zero ground on any issue of import during her years on City Council.

We’ll continue to watch, and keep you updated, on who else files. As we’ve said before, we’re expecting Mayor Charles Worley to file again, and we expect Councilman Joe Dunn may very well file. Brownie Newman is a darkhorse candidate. And everyone is waiting for former mayor Leni Sitnick to stop being coy and just sign up – we know you want to, so stop trying to be cute and do it.
