It’s that time of year again. The time when Asheville’s big street party, known as Bele Chere, sweeps into our mountain town like an oil spill on a gulf marsh. Everybody gets coated in the grease and sweat and sudsy spillage. There’s really no escape. So get out. Have fun. Worry about the clean-up later.

Most Asheville locals I know always avoid Bele Chere like a plague. It’s always hot, overpriced, highly commercial and most uncreative ….. and it’s filled with some of the most unattractive people on earth. No thank-you.
