Man shot WITH HIS OWN GUN
Cherub Charu was back on the marijuana beat Tuesday, reporting an odd story about a couple of guys who shot an attacker WITH HIS OWN GUN, as the local teevee news blared.

This story led the 6, and it sounded like a hero story. The “home invasion,” as the TV news termed it, started when a man entered a house near McCormick Field and threatened to shoot one of the two brothers. They wrestled, and shot the intruder WITH HIS OWN GUN, the news reported. The news also reported that a few grams of mary jane were also found at the house, and that the intruder was recovering at Mission.

At 11, Charu led off again with the same story, only with more details and an interview with the Ashvegas police chief, who said basically said the incident was a drug deal gone bad. The dudes in the house had a bit more than an ounce of marijuana, and there was $4,000 in cash on site, according to Charu’s story.

Again, Charu noted that the would-be thief was shot WITH HIS OWN GUN, but also added that the brothers pulled out their own weapon and fired that off, too.

The brothers told Charu the cash came from an inheritance, and that the intruder was after a bunch of equipment in a makeshift recording studio in the house. The brothers said they haven’t been charged and the cops don’t have a case, Charu reported.

Funny how a story can change after a little reporting. Maybe she could have asked them to roll a joint and smoke it for her to sex up the story a little bit more.

Whatever happened to…
Ken Bostic. Remember him? He seemed to be a bitter weather fellow who didn’t cotton much to Diva Darcel’s banter. And he always made fun of Darcel’s driving, with sort of an evil glint in his eye.

Seems as though he moved on in the early to mid 1990s. I think he was from Rutherford County (there’s a town named Bostic) but I have no other information on him. Anybody know?

Ken always looked like he needed to take a crap, but couldn’t get away from the broadcast long enough to do it. However, I recall some years back that there were proposed federal budget cuts that included shutting down the weather radar at GSP and he was rather outspoken with his opposition.

Oh…and I don’t like Bettes OR Cuevas. Bettes would regularly say things like, “We have showers acrossed our area.” Acrossed??

I can’t stand to watch Cuevas squniting at the camera every 10 seconds.

It’s been a few years since I have heard anything about Ken Bostic, but last I’ve heard is that his family still has a farm down in Northern Spartanburg County SC near the small town of Inman. Also, Ken has ties to Tryon (Polk County)
