Loyal Ashvegas reader Answer, taking part in the ongoing conversation about the Asheville 11 in particular and anarchists in general:

Why should anyone talk to the corporate media? If one is opposed to capitalist institutions, and representation, then logically, taking part in the capitalist media script is the worst way to proceed. The media, obviously, are capitalist firms. Secondly, to break the script means non-participation in “accepted” guidelines. Lastly, obviously calling the police for social problems is a horrible route. When people talk about abolishing police and prisons, one should assume that calling them for anything is ruled out. There are plenty of ways to live without relying on a coercive police force doing your bidding.

Yeah I'd actually rather deal with problems in my house, neighborhood, and community with out the police. Call it what you want but I think it's just being involved the process of working things out and not running and hiding. Often times getting some man or lady with a gun involved, badge or not complicates any situation immensely.

To the previous poster I know how easy it is to use a historically gruesome reference point and say…bingo anarchy. But please reconsider your approach. This is about as effective as "bush=nazi" or "obama=commie". Your context is way off. Your comment lacks understanding of both Somalian History and the many other definitions of the term anarchy. Luckily you know how to use the internet so I recommend you do some research on both before your next comment.

Without the police or law to do it for you, you'd have to rely on private revenge to right wrongs… and if everyone is out righting their own wrongs, the strong feed on the weak and you end up with… wait for it… Somalia.

What fun. I totally see the appeal of anarchy.
