Ashvegas reader: Not happy with Greenlife’s later opening

   GINO – Greanlife In Name Only.
   I try to make a point of calling it this to management. It is amazing corporate is this clueless. The store went from I couldn't decide which of many great selections to choose from to I can't decide which of the bad choices I will settle for in most categories. The employees went from happy to miserable and the prices skyrocketed, selection went down, local products were removed and store tasks and the deli were outsourced. Time for the Co-Op to re-invent itself I think – it has not recovered from the late 90s when it went downhill either.

   Wow. White, middle-class privilege much? Get over yourself, you can buy your breakfast from any of the other soy-friendly fair trade businesses who still make their employees come in at god-awful hours to satisfy your yuppie cravings. Would it shock you to know that most businesses were only open from 9-5 for centuries, and they closed for an hour for lunch!!!! =O OMG TEH HORROR! And because of incessantly whining middle-class snowflakes we now have working hours not much better than third world countries. Thanks a lot.

   Whole foods is terrible. That's why the occupiers in Oakland went after their store first right after the banks. I used to shop at greenlife and I went there once after the take over and will never be back. Earth fare is the best place to shop in Asheville by far. Phuk whole foods and the building formerly known as greenlife.

   I agree the final straw! Can you believe they had the nerve to lower prices, expand product selection and increase employee salary and benefits? Now they let employees come in an hour later. Wow get a life.

   I agree that the takeover is complete. I find it helps to call the place by it's real name: Whole foods. I think the great place that was Greenlife really no longer exists. I experience this in many small ways….. from odd (crowded) times when shelves are being stocked, to the cashiers saying stuff like they don't know why certain rules exist. They try to be polite, but there's that bewilderment that comes from corporate trickle down. It's sad. I still shop there…. though less than I used to, and I can't bear to keep up the sham of calling it Greenlife.
