– This story, first reported by the John Locke Foundation newspaper Carolina Journal, shows how N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper’s office over-paid lawyers the state hired to help it fight the TVA in a clean air lawsuit that was heard here in Asheville. Taxpayers get shafted, and lawyers get rich, once again.

– Haven’t heard much about this story locally: A 20-year-old woman charged with smothering her infant daughter in April 2008 will appear in a New York court for the first time since being returned from Asheville on a fugitive warrant. Newsday.com.
