More of what’s going around:

-Sound the snow sirens: The latest on a brewing winter storm that will likely bring us a white Christmas. On the light side, a Wilmington jeweler stands to lose a lot of dough if it snows at least 3 inches in Asheville on Christmas Day.

-Arts impact: This sounds like an important study:

The City of Asheville Cultural Arts Division recently announced it has joined Arts & Economic Prosperity IV. The research study, which is being conducted by Americans for the Arts, a nonprofit organization for advancing the arts, will evaluate the impact spending by nonprofit arts organizations and their audiences have on their local economies. As one of 200 study partners across all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, The City of Asheville Cultural Arts Division will facilitate the gathering of detailed economic and event attendance data from nonprofit arts and culture organizations located throughout Buncombe County. In addition, The City of Asheville Cultural Arts Division will collaborate with the community’s other arts organizations to collect surveys from at least 800 arts and culture attendees in Buncombe County during 2011.

-New Ingles: Looks like the west side could get a big new Ingles grocery store. The company has a plan to build an addition onto its current Smoky Park Highway store that would double its size, reports the Asheville Citizen-Times.

-Toubab Krewe nod: A savannahnow.com writer loved the show Asheville’s Toubab Krewe recently put on down there.

-Flogging Molly update: From Echo Mountain Studio’s page on Facebook:

Just finished a lovely month with Flogging Molly and now Derin Togar is finishing her last days. It’s been a great year for us this year.

-Urban Trail audio tour: Looking for something fun for your holiday visitors to do around Asheville? Take ’em for a walk. Download the audio here of Asheville’s great Urban Trail tour.

-Parlour sale: From Parlour’s page on Facebook:

At PARLOUR take an extra 50% off all sale items this week! Tees 10$, most items under 40$, winter coats 60$!!!!! And free beer while it lasts….visit us at 9 W walnut st.. on the corner of Carolina lane..
