Some of what’s going around:

-16 and Pregnant: MTV’s fascinating series profiling pregnant teens, called 16 and Pregnant, is reportedly filming a segment in Asheville. That’s what I hear, anyway. Can anyone confirm?

-Anywhere USA on TV: A couple of folks, including RevDev on Twitter, are saying that the independent film Anywhere USA is going to appear on local cable’s video-on-demand service. I can’t find any details. Does anyone know more? Anywhere USA, made by Asheville filmmaker Chusy Haney-Jardine, won a special jury prize at Sundance a few years back. The film, shot around Asheville and starring Asheville folks, never landed a theater distribution deal. It only screened once in Asheville at the Fine Arts Theatre.

-Mahaffey on the move: I stopped by the DeSoto Lounge yesterday for a party that followed the showing of a new documentary about Mickey Mahaffey of Asheville. It’s called Being the Diablo, and it screened Sunday at the new Ricochet Film Festival.

-CrossFit update: Today was our first day in the new CrossFit Asheville location in the Kmart shopping center on Tunnel Road. Simply awesome. And Randy was there! Congratulations to Shanna, Corey and Randy. Love me some CrossFit.

-Roller girl and Brewgrass action: Here’s a great photo gallery by flickr friend Michael Tracey of Saturday’s Blue Ridge Roller Girls bout. Check out more great roller girl photos at the Asheville Citizen-Times, which also has a fun Brewgrass gallery. And speaking of Brewgrass, check out Sanuk D’s sweet photo gallery.

-Blue Ridge Pride Fest: Blue Ridge Pride Fest is looking for volunteers. “Blue Ridge Pride is a weekend event bringing music and entertainers, community talents, educational workshops, regional vendors, and participation from both state-wide and local LGBTQ and non-profit organizations.” Check ’em. Via Scrutiny Hooligans.
