Asheville, NC (PRWEB) April 15, 2009 – Biblio.com announced today a joint three-way agreement with Bibliopolis, LLC and Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America (ABAA) to provide a new e-commerce site for ABAA members and their books.
ABAA-Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America
We are confident we have assembled the strongest possible team to help realize the ABAA’s goals. Under the 4-year joint operating agreement, the new ABAA e-commerce site for its book dealers will feature Biblio.com’s search engine and e-commerce technology. Berkeley-based Bibliopolis will be responsible for crafting the design and user interfaces for the site.
ABAA is a trade organization founded in 1949 for the purpose of promoting ethical standards and professionalism in the antiquarian book trade in America. Its membership presently encompasses 450 antiquarian book dealers from the United States. Its umbrella organization, the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), has a membership of more than 2200 book dealers, inclusive of its US division, ABAA.
The ABAA has maintained a search and e-commerce site for its membership since 2000, and hopes to continue expanding its offerings to book collectors through the new site. “We are proud to partner with both Bibliopolis and Biblio.com to build and host our new site,” explains Susan Benne, Executive Director of the ABAA. “Both companies are very well-known among our membership, and have a track record of delivering high-quality service and products to the rare book trade.”
The new site will feature expanded search functionality, the ability to order books from multiple book dealers at the same time, and enhanced product detail pages with high resolution photos and zoom. In addition, the site will be given a complete makeover, starting with a new design that attempts to interweave the ABAA’s identity and mission as an organization with its e-commerce functionality.
