Here are the details. Vote here:

Submitted by: Yvette Odell, Asheville

More about the idea:

Kindermusik with Yvette teaming up with the YWCA MotherLove program (a mentoring program for young parents enrolled in high school)to offer a Kindermusik Village session as a part of the MotherLove schedule; a once a week music and movement class for 10-12 babies (newborn-18 months) and their mothers and/or fathers. Yvette is well known locally for including in her class information on child development and parenting. Helping young parents to make a difference in their own baby’s life will have a powerful affect on the parents as well. We will document the experience with video and survey. Eventually this program would be long term, feeding into music lessons for the children as they grow up. Music has the power to be used as a social justice tool. This is the beginning…of something big.

How the grant will be used:

$350 for Kindermusik home materials $650 for scholarship for 6 babies and their parents

Project start date:

March 17, 2011
