Secret Asheville, a website that I just came across, promises to dish the gossip. From secretasheville.wordpress.com:

Everybody loves juicy gossip…Epecially if it is about people or things in Asheville.  Send an anonymous comment to this blog post, and we’ll spill your secret on the Secret Asheville blog and on Twitter @secretasheville!   (The comment field asks for a required name/e-mail.  Simply use a ficticious name like Jane Doe, with an anonymous e-mail like [email protected]).  Your identity and comment will never be revealed.

Sounds like one to watch.

I am surprised that someone would start up such a thing. For example the only post I have seen states: "looks like Asheville Tourists mascot Ted E. Tourist is an alocholic." Stuff like this could get a person sued for defamation, liable, or slander. Careful…tread these waters carefully…and don’t assume freedom of speech protects you from suits of defamation.

Maybe this new blog will reveal that Gannett Corporstion (Citizen-times) owns a significant portion of Ashvegas. Like someone posted before, it’s hard to tell where Ashvegas the blog ends and the Citizen-Times begins. We need transparency about news media ownership here in AVL.

Oh, NO! Not anonymous gossip. This is the worst kind.
Our local paper publishes this kind of slander every week and it’s so wrong!
