The Asheville Tea Party has officially launched its political action committee, a move I noted here last month. With the PAC, the groups moves from simply holding rallies to get fired up to raising money to influence the outcomes of local elections.

How successful will they be? We’ll see this election season.

Meantime, the Asheville Tea Party is sponsoring a debate this coming week for all candidates running for the 11th Congressional District seat now held by U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler. It’s set for 6:30 p.m. on March 5 at Ferguson Auditorium on the campus of AB-Tech.

The organization that inspires multicultural unity (race, gender, sexuality) is the party of the future. If your environment is not welcoming of all you all are just shouting in an echo chamber.

Erika CONRAD Franzi has previously accused Heath Shuler of "money laundering" for holding a similar event.

It makes one wonder how much of the MILLIONS in military contracts her company made during the Bush years is now being "laundered" at her event.

In the video, they claim to be "non-political" but Franzi states that their goal is "to get Heath Shuler out of office." Huh?

Last year Carl Mumpower created a "Deck of Shame" playing cards. One of the cards featured PACs. The card states "PACs purchase political influence and access through a Buy America Plan…" Guess which Asheville Tea Party director helped create the deck but has now flip-flopped and created her own PAC!

I will not blame Rep. Heath Shuler if he does not accept this invitation to the “debate.” Count on the upcoming gathering to be just like all those other so-called “town hall” meetings, during which any progressive politician who tried to speak did not have a chance. Also keep in mind, Heath’s not all that progressive anyway. They simply want him out. Tea Party attendees leave Republican participants alone, even though their claim is one of bi-partisanship. Their movement is a complete joke. These gatherings are nothing but shout-down ambushes.

Oh. Speaking of Bush, where was this “patriotic” Tea Party during two terms of W’s war declaring, money wasting and personal rights robbing King George rule? Members were hiding behind the Stars & Stripes, going along with the Cheney-driven charade.

Finally, I watched the video posted here. Now I have nothing against some good ‘ol fashioned country music, cloggin` and pig pullin’. But did anyone spot a person of color in that whole group? If these folks are so “I believe in America”, so sincere and honest about their true goals, why aren’t they trying to be inclusive? That’s because there is now a person of color in the White House. They hate it. That simple. Just simple people.
