Good luck, Joey. That ought to be a fun, reasonable and sedate crowd. I do not know you, but I wish you the best. Remember that old school piece of advice – "duck and cover"? If you work for WLOS that day, do not forget it!

I’ll most likely be working that day and covering the protest (if management deems it newsworthy). Trust me, the ‘boots on the ground’ employees like myself have only one objective: to tell a fair story that informs and entertains our audience. Whatever our corporate parents do is beyond our control.

Oh, and please don’t assault me. I have somewhere to be after my shift. Deal? Deal.

Oh so dissmissive, we will see how you are done with me for now. Remeber it was you who attacked first, always, with your narrow minded, spoon fed rhetoric we all have grown to laugh at.

Sucks not being able to think for yourself isn’t?

The true meaning of "Free thinker" would make you scream, as well as most of Rubber Stamp Asheville

My first election was also in 1976, RR, so that means we are both getting pretty old. heh-heh

Seriously, I appreciate your wise reminder to settle down. I am admittedly among those who should heed your advice. There is no doubt I get caught up in my anger. Deep breaths might help. I think I will try that.

And I hope you are correct in your belief that the majority of Americans are as sensible as you – that we move forward – judge elected officials based on what they have or have not accomplished – and then head for the polling place again. I hope we can get beyond all the noise. We shall see.

There seems to be a lot of anger here, let’s all settle down. Freedom of Speech is our greatest freedom. While I can do without the name calling, it’s still free speech, even though it isn’t an effective way to make an argument. I have voted in every election since 1976. Sometimes my candidates won, sometimes they lost and sometimes they never got out of the primaries. I don’t spend my days between elections which didn’t go my way fixed on the extreme points of view of either side of the political spectrum. I go one with my life. I don’t have time to complain about election results which didn’t go my way. There are just too many daily experiences to enjoy. I wait until the next election, then make my choices and go from there. Do you know what that makes me? A member of the majority of Americans.

Trolling you on this board, AD? You seem to react every time I respond to your misguided missives. But the big difference between you and me is that I have grown tired of your ignorance. I am done with you. For now.

Ahh another sad little attempt from Check to be smug and snarky, apprantly someone reads to much into things. The poetry part was about you being a whiney little git that has no clue in the real world. Trying to be edgy and tell me off, how grown up of you, yet failing in every way possible.

Taking life and what people say on the internet is not healthy, May I suggest turning of the NPR and taking a walk outside or watching some decent re-runs on TVland would do you good. But just like alot of people here in Asheville you can’t relax unless your bitching.

Of course you take issue with everything I say about anything, but its your life your wasting trolling me on this board, not mine. I can do nothing but pity and feel sorry for someone so narrow minded and dense in their thinking.

Good luck with life and remember to lighten up.

Oh, Asheville Dweller, you continue to amuse and amaze in some twisted way, but let us keep this response short and not so sweet.

You accuse me of writing "bad poetry". Do you realize nothing you say here follows any train of thought? You derail every time you pull out of the station. And did you know you have no sense of grammar or spelling? If no one has ever mentioned that to you, I am now. "Masterbate" is actually spelled "masturbate". Nice try.

Know that I take nothing you write here personally, because you are a repetitive and I suspect drunken moron. Your posts lack content and any form conciousness. Are you swilling PBR as you type at your keyboard? I think so.

I do not cry about you, but do feel sorry for anyone so bitter, pathetic and nonsensical. I believe that does define what you call a "sad little person". You certainly are that.

Follow me so far? I didn’t think so. So let us leave it at that. Unless you want to take another run at me. Good luck staying on the tracks this time. I, once again, count on your response being amusing and amazing. Best always.

It’s funny how terms such as "Mainstream Media" are repeated at these protests, regardless of what part of the country they take place in. Folks should use original thoughts when deciding why they are angry or putting together a protest. Instead, they just repeat the terminology of mouths on talk radio and cable television who are using them to advance their own careers, nothing more. So, President Obama hasn’t straightened out the country’s economy during his eight months in office. I’m shocked. Did we get into this mess just this year? Where was all of the outrage when our armed forces were sent overseas to two war zones seven years ago. Remember how oil revenues from Iraq were going to pay for the war? Where did you think the money came from to actually pay for the war?…..your tax dollars!, that’s where.

I saw both the Van Jones and Acorn stories on all the network news programs – and also read them in the Citizen-Times, New York Times, etc. No boat was missed by the mainstream media. And it is mainstream – not all one-sided and whacked-out. Rush, FOX and the Washington Times, however, spent much of their air time and column inches – stuck on those two stories – going on and on and on. And let us not forget President Obama’s citizenship, religion and experience issues, just to name a few, all called into question. If it has any negative spin potential involving our new Commander In Chief, the Right Wing Media is on it like stink on a monkey and beats it like a dead horse.

Never capturing the terrorist responsible for ordering the 9/11 murders, starting a war with a country that did not have anything to do with the attacks on America, the WMDs never found, the hidden and embarrassing torture tactics used at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo, Cheney’s ties to Halliburton and Bechtel (Bomb a country to the ground and then hire your cronies to gradually rebuild it? Nice work if you can get it.). Those are just five examples of stories Right Wing “journalists” downplayed or failed to cover. There are many, many more.

So dwell on the two you came up with, RB, and keep listening to the likes of Glenn Beck. You trust him? What Beck is doing on FOX is making big-time money for trying to incite a Right Wing riot. Anyone with a smidgen of sense can tell he was born with that mask attached to his smarmy face.

If they had anything done anything positive or worth a mention I would of mentioned it, The truth is that reality check is in such denial about his little town that if any harsh words written about this place or anything about it would require him writting bad poetry about it in journal and sipping PBR.

Check needs to get a grip that when I talk about Asheville or even WLOS that he shouldn’t take it personally and above all else to get a life. But he far more concerned with Crying about me, or anyone else that doesnt verbally masterbate to this rubber stamp town, sad little person.

The main stream media missed the boat – numbers clearly show that people doesnt trust the media anymore.

Glen Beck has done a great job in removing their fake mask.

I certainly agree with all those who point-out the almost humorous irony of conservatives protesting outside a local television station owned by one of the most conservative corporations in media history. Only Rupert Murdoch’s FOX Media holds a candle to David Smith’s Sinclair Broadcasting. But please allow me to take this a few steps further.

“Operation: Can You Hear Us Now?” It is also known as a thinly veiled front for Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and the Sun Myung Moon-owned Washington Times. All three deliver one-sided lying, preaching and inciting. Do the blind, angry followers of these “patriots” want to talk about state-run news media and what they call “efforts to marginalize all who oppose their agenda”? Yes? Well, OK, Tea Baggers. Here we go.

“You’re either with us, or against us.” Sound familiar? Where were all of them when FOX News served as nothing more than the broadcast mouthpiece for the Bush Administration – when other network reporters were banned from the White House Press Room for not asking softball questions? You know what that approach by the Bush staff accomplished? Exactly what was intended. To castrate real journalists who do not work for FOX. It is a shame they all allowed for their balls to be cut-off to get back on The Press Conference List, but that is what they needed to do to keep their jobs. I hesitate to blame them, but most people refer to that as a blow job.

I took/wasted my time checking a website Ash linked to his ashvegas post on this topic and it is beyond poisoned and predictable. Let’s just say moveon.org has nothing on newsbusters.org. It is not even close. Organizers of the upcoming “Mainstream Media” protests insist theirs is a non-partisan effort. What a joke. It is driven like cattle by the aforementioned Ultra Right Wing Pundits. It is all bullshit, or should I say “conservative cow pie”. These microphoned blowhards are leading manipulated morons to the slaughter house, simply to improve ratings and earn even bigger salaries. They should ask Rush to travel to their next Tea Bag demonstration in his private jet. I am sure he will be there lickety-split. You betcha. The reality is His Fatness does not give a good goddamn about any of his listeners. Bank on it, just like he does.

And the so-called “patriots” of the Tea Bag movement are nothing more than disgruntled, mostly white, low-to-middle classers, who DO NOT want to pay ANY taxes – who DO want the right to own assault weapons – who DO believe EVERYONE should be Christian – and who also have a problem with PEOPLE OF COLOR (although I think they call THEM something else). They are pissed-off our president is African American. It is that plain and simple. They are just plain simple. They have no idea the programs proposed by the Obama Administration will help them the most. They do not understand that the wealthiest people in this country pay the lowest taxes. They are ignorant, racist idiots, desperate for someone to tell them what to do. They want that on Sundays in church – also when they watch TV or listen to radio. Thinking for themselves is not an option. It is a generational thing. From Great Grand Dad, to Grand Dad, to Dad, to Son, to Grandson, etc. South or North, it is an ignorant way of life and it is ugly.

Finally, I hesitate to waste time talking about their March On Washington that attracted “close to two-million protestors”. But WTF. I know I will be accused of being some sort of conspiracy theorist, however those impressive aerial photographs of the crowd clearly lack at least one building that has been there for five-years – the National Museum Of The American Indian (ironic?) That structure is not in those photos, even though it was completed September 14, 2004. Their demonstration just happened to be September 12, 2009. But let’s get past “The Grassy Knoll” aspect of all this and talk about something even more telling. The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Department estimated the crowd at between 60,000 and 75,000 people. What political gain could our courageous first-responders, American heroes, possibly desire from their assessment of the crowd count? Mainstream Media ignoring and misreporting an event of historic and monumental proportions? Once again, WTF.

“Operation: Can You Hear Us Now?” I can barely hear you. Your pathetic chatter is faint and annoying. I believe you are a minority that will never achieve what happened on November 4, 2008. Yes We Can. No You Won’t.

The only beef I got with WLOS is the poor news reporting, they are horrible in every single context a news station can be.

    Just some examples of

Couple of years back the ice storm that hit Hendersonville was skiped while the fox affiliate had ON THE SCENE coverage.

The flooding from a couple of years ago and all they could talk about was, would the flood stop the WNC Fair.

An escaped convict was hiding in South Asheville and WLOS Barely covered and the fall out of him escaping.

and the list goes on and on and on.

It really bugs me that they think that the local Affil has any control over what ABC and other networks do. If nothing else, WLOS locally has been pretty fair with their coverage of events on both sides and have given residents in NC at least a little voice to their reps.

it’s laughable that it’s the conservatives who are going to protest WLOS which is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. …an openly conservative media giant who gained notoriety by "ordering its 62 local stations to preempt prime time programming to broadcast an anti-Kerry film just before the November 2, 2004 general election. Those 62 stations include affiliates of all six major commercial broadcast networks in the swing states of Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada and Pennsylvania."

It was only a few years ago that Sinclair boldly forced it’s stations (includng WLOS) to air nightly conservative commentary from Sinclair spokesman and lobbyist Mark Hyman during each local news broadcast.

It’s a sign of the cult-like hysteria of the Tea Party protesters that they dont even realize who and what they are protesting. They get their marching orders and bliindly strike out against anyone who doesn’t drink the Kool Aid.

    The current congress and administration?

WLOS is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting. Sinclair refused to run a NIghtline episode where the names of the dead of soldiers in Iraq were to be scrolled across the screen. They stopped running Bill Maher’s Politically Incorrect because he took the politically incorrect position of opposing the invasion of Iraq. They pre-empted prime time programming to run an anti-Kerry film just before the 2004 election. They end their news programming with a right wing rant called "The Point". They were fined by the FCC for airing episodes where Armstrong Williams had been secretly paid by the Bush administration to promote their No Child Left Behind Act. They were fined for refusing to reveal that it was political programming provided by an outside source and instead presenting it as independent commentary.

Where have these yahoos been? Guess when your diet consist mostly of corn whiskey and Pabst Blue Ribbon it takes awhile to sober up long enough to realize what’s going on.
