Here’s the note from Miss D:

In honor of International Talk Like A Pirate Day, I am proposing a Pirate Run next Tuesday at Carrier Park. The actual holiday is on Sunday, but I feel like founders Cap’n Slappy and Ol’ Chumbucket would approve. Dick says he’s not really feeling the pirate spirit, but maybe he’ll wear a bandana and give us an ARRGH or two. Just the usual 3 mile run (or less, if you aren’t up for 3), pirate attire and colloquialisms optional. We’ll meet at the pavilion at 5:30 and again at 6:00 for ye stragglers, and run around the main park. I am copying a link to the official ITLAPD webpage. It has useful resources like a pirate name generator, pirate translator, glossary, etc.  I hope some folks will want to participate, as I may feel ever so slightly foolish being the only one dressed up.
