The Asheville Police Department is seeking help to locate a Karen Sue Barnett from Marble, NC. Ms. Barnett may be in the company of a Lazaro Perez who has two open warrants for his arrest for felony probation violations. Over the last month Ms. Barnett has been purchasing expensive items in the Asheville area using fraudulent checks. They have been seen driving a white 1993 Cadillac Deville.

If you see Barnett or Perez, please do not try to detain because they may be armed. Call the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or 911 immediately. You can also text a tip anonymously by texting apdtip to 274637 (CRIMES).

I learned the hard way years ago not to take a check. Actually, in business I’ve learned everything the hard way.

She left a swath of destruction here on Haywood Road… burned a lot of small businesses with bad checks. I hope she gets justice!

  Karen Sue Barnett and Lazaro Perez were arrested by the Tryon Police Department today. She is being charged in several counties in reference to fraudulent checks.
