Asheville police have announced that they’re searching for a third suspect in connection with a Sunday night shooting at a pool hall on Haywood Road that left two men dead.
Police have arrested two men, but are seeking a third suspect. The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday night at the pool hall a couple of doors down from Burgermeiester’s. It’s the little shopping center with a laundromat next to the Ingles store.

Asheville Police are actively seeking this suspect in the shooting double homicide at the Haywood Rd pool hall Billar Latino last night. APD Detectives have sworn two first degree murder warrants on one primary suspect, CELERINO MALDONADO PONCE.
Below and attached is a picture of the suspect Celerino Ponce. He is described as a Hispanic male, DOB 8/22/75 35 years of age. 5’6 to 5’7”, stocky build with some facial hair. Search warrants have been served and so far the suspect has not been located.Suspect PONCE is obviously to be considered armed and dangerous.
With the assistance of ICE (Immigration/Customs/Enforcement) the victims have been tentatively identified. The victims are brothers, and contact with the victim’s family members still is not complete. Another family member may be involved but has not come forward. If anyone has knowledge of the deceased individuals and has NOT spoken with APD they are asked to come forward and contact the police at 828-259-5910.
At this time there are no further warrants or upgraded charges that have been taken on any other subjects that may be involved in this incident. The investigation is continuing and a further update will take place on Tuesday 11-27-07 at 10:30 hours.
