Ray’s Weather Center, the source of the best local weather forecasts here in Western North Carolina, says some darn cold weather is headed our way come Monday. The high that day will be 49. The high on Tuesday will be 42, according to the forecast.

Yikes!

On top of that, Ray’s Weather Center has put out its Winter 20080-’09 Fearless Forecast. The forecast goes into great detail, so if you’re a weather geek, this is a must read. Here’s the bottom line:

-More snow than recent winters but less than the 40-year average

-Overall temperature near to slightly above normal.

This is interesting, because the past few years, we’ve had very little snow in and around Asheville. Everybody I talk to wants “a good snow” this year. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Here’s the outlook from Ray’s Weather:

City // Expected Total Snowfall for ’08-’09

Asheville 12″

Banner Elk 41″

Beech Mountain 72″

Boone 35″

Hickory 8″

Jefferson and West Jefferson 19″

Lenoir 8″

Sparta 19″

Spruce Pine 15″

Sugar Mountain 65″

Waynesville 14″

Wilkesboro 12″

I would prefer a forecast for 2012-13, I already know what happened in 2008-09

Ugh…no snow for me thanks. I can’t stand it when someone says "I wish we’d get a good snow this year". Makes me want to punch ’em. I hate the stuff with a passion and if I could afford to, I’d move to Florida for the winter just to get away from it.
