Q: Please summarize what you make and sell on Etsy.
A: I try to create jewelry that feels like it has a story to tell. I tend to use components that are tarnished, primitive, organic, and/or historic, and combine them in unusual ways.
Q: What item makes you sad to let go? In other words, what do you have a special connection to?
A: I make several necklaces with genuine vintage coins – these coins have been through so many hands over the decades! I’m always a little sad to see them leave mine.
Q: What are you inspired by, whether it be something in nature or a musician, artist or other creative wellspring?
A: I seem to always get inspired when I travel – spending time in other cultures, and seeing the new and different (to me) art created there really gets my creative juices flowing.
Q: With the economy the way it is and the holiday shopping season coming up, what’s your perfect stocking stuffer or small gift?
A: I currently have several styles of earrings for under $10 – and I’ve almost sold out of the coin necklaces I offer for under $20….It definitely seems like folks are looking for more affordable gifts this year.
Q: What else would you like people to know about you?
A: I play with numbers full time at my day job, so I’m thrilled to be giving my right brain a creative outlet! I’m still pretty new to the Asheville area – my husband and I just moved here two years ago. I’ve lived in 26 different houses, in 7 different states, so I’m really ready
to grow some roots! (Hence the title of my shop: The Nesting Nomad.)
