Note here from Mark Sandborn, the owner of Asheville-based Virtuoso Music International, which sells software aimed at teaching music:

The software provides colorized electronic sheet music and exercises so that music student can play along with the computer. My company is also producing electronic sheet music for ‘pop’ songs which is changing the way students experience music.

This new ‘pop’ song sheet music, which is called ROCKSTAR, provides the only authentic note for note electronic sheet music synchronized with the original audio recording of the band. While it is just as entertaining as Guitar Hero or Rockband, it is much more than a game, and allows students to truly read music and learn an instrument.

This software is sold online through my website and locally through retailers like Music City and Tempo Music. The color technology which I developed is also being used in leading music notation and MIDI recording software platforms created by companies such as Apple, Avid, and Yamaha.
