Story from Switched.com:

There are plenty of ways to measure success. Some people think they’ve made it when they wind up being covered by a 24-hour cable news channel, others are holding out hope to be parodied by Weird Al. Switched? Well we think that we’ll have made it when we get a beer named after us. With that as our benchmark for recognition, we’d say that somebody honoring electronic music icon Bob Moog with a beer is long overdue. Thankfully, the Asheville Brewing Company has stepped up to correct this grave injustice by introducing Moog Filtered Ale.

The company describes the brew as “an American-style pale ale with distinctive notes of caramel and pine… a very accessible beer that reflects the Moog legacy.” And if the tasty sounding description and geeky name weren’t enough to convince you to pick up a bottle, know that profits from its sale will be donated to the Bob Moog Foundation and go to fund “innovative science education” projects.

Sadly the brew, which will go on sale May 27th, is a limited edition and will disappear from store shelves on July 31st. We’ve never encountered an Asheville Brewing Company beverage here in NYC, but we’ll be checking out our local beer distributor to try and snag a bottle before its run is up.
