Here’s the info, from WRAL.com. Erskine Bowles is retiring at the end of this year as president of the 17-campus UNC system.

Private donors are paying $60,000 for Asheville artist Ben Long to paint a portrait of Bowles, which will hang beside portraits of other former UNC presidents in the General Administration building in Chapel Hill.

    Hi Musicals Fan,

The coffee-house (and cafe/bar) theatre that you're referring to is The Magnetic Field, and we'll be open in just a few weeks at 372 Depot Street in the new Glen Rock Depot.

Sorry for the delays–but commercial construction schedules don't always go as quickly as one might hope.

Our first show will be the 27th Annual Bernstein Family Christmas Spectacular. Check back soon for details.

    Thanks!

On a arts-related topic, Ash, maybe you could bring us up to date on two new theatre ventures that were supposed to be happening in Asheville: a coffe-house theatre (?) that was supposed to open this summer in the River District (?) and a dinner theatre (?) for musicals that was supposed to open downtown.
