Anybody know the story of the lone buffalo?

Loyal reader Marilyn has a question that I can’t answer, so I need your help. Anybody know what’s up with the buffalo? I remember some guy saying he was going to start a buffalo farm out in Leicester, but that’s about it. Anybody?

Here’s the note:

We moved here in December off of Hoopers Creek and every time we drive on Mills Gap Road we see this amazing Buffalo there all by itself and sometimes kept company by two horses. I keep looking for someone to be there to stop and tell me “the story of the lone buffalo” and there is never anyone there. I though this must be a STORY that you might know about or could find out for me just because I am amazed at seeing this guy all the time. Sometimes he even lays out stretched like a cat and the only way I know he’s alive is his tail is going swatting at flies. Other times he is scratching himself at his great big scratching post. If the two horses are near him grazing he always goes to be by them.
