Yes, a previous commenter was (sort of) right:
immediately before Darcel, Cicely Hand was my co-anchor. But, yes, right before Cicely, Tom–not “Jon”–Sweeney and I co-anchored, along with Bob Caldwell on weather and Scott Palmer on sports.
Darcel was preceeded by Cicely Hand, who’s been out of the business for at least 20 years.
I co-anchored with Darcel for roughly four years in the late ’70s/early ’80s. I’ve been anchoring at KLFY and KATC in Lafayette, LA, since 1987, with a three-and-a-half hiatus in between gigs to teach at UL/Lafayette and in Paris.
I’ll go back a little further…how about Arthur Whiteside back in the 60’s.
You are good, Radio. I’ll be glad to drop you a bumper sticker.
The late Larry Wheeler also shared an anchor chair with Darcel.
I believe Jon Sweeney and Hoyt Harris preceded Darcel?
