If you see a lot of young folks walking around downtown looking like this, with their faces painted and dressed funky, credit Amanda Palmer. The Dresden Dolls lead singer and pianist is playing the Orange Peel tonight.

From the Orange Peel web site:

FREAK/UNIQUE CONTEST: Although her show’s been called “too weird,” we know nothing’s too weird for Asheville! Come dressed in your best freak/unique Amanda Palmer-esque costume on Friday night….we’ll award the WEIRDEST PERSON two free tickets to any show in ’08 (excluding sell-outs). The winner will be chosen and announced at set-break before Amanda takes the stage, so make sure to get here in time to catch the opener’s set beginning at 9pm to be eligible to win.

Asheville is still freak-central!
