So Tiger Woods is finally coming out of hiding. He’s holding a so-called press conference – it’s really more of a “managed appearance,” as my sports buddies have said – on Friday to break his silence after the scandal broke about all his personal life.

I know lots of folks will say they don’t care, but the truth is that the fate of Tiger Woods matters to Asheville, and especially to the owners of The Cliffs at High Carolina out in Swannanoa/Fairview. That’s where Tiger is building is first U.S. golf course, and where developer Jim Anthony has been banking on Tiger to help him sell million-dollar lots. That hasn’t been going too well of late, by the way.

So we’ll all be holding our breath and waiting and watching. Will Tiger Woods apologize? Will Tiger Woods play The Masters? Will Tiger Woods come back and visit us here in Western North Carolina?

We’ll see. You can watch the press conference live on Ustream:

If you were waiting for the next huge online video event, this is it. Tiger Woods is set to break his silence on Friday morning with a press conference that will be broadcast live at 11 a.m. ET on Ustream, via the company’s partner CBS News.

Newsnews of Tiger’s first public appearance since admitting to transgressions back in December broke earlier this afternoon. The golfer’s agent tells the AP that the event will consist of a “small group of friends, colleagues and close associates [who will listen to Woods apologize as he talks about the past and what he plans to do next]

I hope that he doesn’t mention our passionate affair. I really believed that he loved me, as evidenced by the passion in his text messages. Please respect my privacy at this time.

Tiger needs to just fade away. Back out quietly.

I will just be happy when his billboards are gone.
