That’s the news. Moogfest just keeps getting better and better. The Citizen-Times has the info here.

I wrote on Aug. 2 that I thought it would be great if Devo would perform at Moogfest. Here’s one of the comments I received, from loyal reader whatever:

Jason:

Your lameness and uselessness continues to manifest. You just put up a post about an 80s band that will NOT be in Asheville!!!!

I will congratulate you on marketing your nothingness to the general Asheville easily-led population, however. They think you are relevant. Ha!!! You must know better.

To quote John Lennon, “How do you sleep?”

Answer: Well, because the clueless AC-T management doesn’t know a lightweight when they see one, and neither does Asheville’s “groovy” population.

Dear whatever, guess that shows you. The fact is that I am relevant. The fact is I know what I’m no lightweight. The real question is – how do you sleep at night with all that hate and lameness and lack of foresight?

Love the whole late 70's/early 80's "new wave" thing, but I never got the whole Devo thing.

Once again you have missed an opportunity to behave in a professional manner.

Of course 'Whatever's' post was childish and immature. This person is obviously a common garden-variety troll often found lurking in most nooks & crannies of these, our interwebs.

And you fell for his trollish antics hook, line, & sinker.

    "..guess that shows you.' ???

    REALLY?

I'm surprised that wasn't followed by 'Nah, nah, boo, boo, stick yer head in doo doo'.

You seem to huff and puff and beg for anyone within earshot to take you as a serious journalist, all the while refusing to comport yourself as one. It's 'Sanford vs. The World' as if you were some 15 year old discovering punk rock for the first time.

I'm sure you won't take this post to heart. Hell, I'm guessing it won't make it past your scrutiny and onto your blog.

The thing is, you have great access to this community. People know you and your blog and you've even been given access to the only (however pathetic it may be) actual daily in the area. You're poised to be an important part of the conversation in WNC.

Unfortunately you keep acting like an underdeveloped man-child who is more interested in attention and one-upmanship instead of serious discourse & dialogue.

    I hope that changes.

The reality is there is scant difference between the Asheville Citizen-Times and Ashvegas the blog started by Jason Sandford a few years back. The line between the two is increasingly blurred.

Indeed, Asheville people are easily swayed. I only wish that we could get some full disclosure and transparency about who is behing the news outlets and blogs in this town. As someone speculated on here a while back, I'm also convinced that the Citizen-Times (Gannett Corp.) has an ownership interest in Ashvegas. Any such arrangement like that is not good.

Asheville, the land of tired paranoia.

Aw dude don't sweat the fools. Keep bringing it but Devo is the shit. I just saw a version of whip it by pearl jam, great stuff. The Moogfest is just another great musical festival Asheville will proudly put on, love it cause it's great for our city.

I see some of the very same stories in the Citizen Times by Jason as a "columnist" and have wondered the same thing about the paper or Gannett owning the Ashevegas blog. It would be good for Jason to share information about this arrangement with his "loyal readers".

I respectfully disagree. Jason posts about cool stuff going on here. The AC-T: not so much. Whatever the financial arrangements are, the biggest change I've noticed is the absence of the DONATE button. I'm good with that.

Because of his continued silence on this topic, I do feel that Jason has "sold out" to Gannett. That's a real shame since he seems to have lost his most important attribute — his credibility.

there's a ton of hate in asheville. moreso than in Detroit where I grew up. Its disgusting. Mr. Whatever needs to get cracked in the head with a brick. The gene pool would be better off without him.

On that note, I love Devo.
