Roots Cafe, which served up the best biscuits and lunch in Asheville down in the River Arts District, has closed. But don’t fear – the business, which started around its popular hummus, is rocking on. Word on the street is that a big distributor picked up the Roots hummus, which I always pick up over at Earth Fare.

From the Roots website:

In order to accommodate growing opportunities in the wholesale base of our business, Roots will no longer be operating in the retail capacity of the cafe. We will continue to be active and value our place in the community through farm to table dinners, hosting gatherings in the courtyard, and catering lunches and special events. We hope that each of you who has enjoyed the cafe will continue to stay in touch through this evolution and call on us for any way we can be of service.

Does anyone have any more details? And does anyone know if I can find the chunky-delish Roots biscuits around anywhere?
