As far as we could tell, they were trying to be surreptitious about tossing the coins, in order to strike up conversations with passersby to ask for more money.
Why the hell would a bum be throwing money on the street?
Asheville needs to lock up these Transients. Everybody calls them homeless but these transients are homeless by choice.
I think the city needs to put more time into helping the people that did not make a choice to be homeless.
Hey… was he one of those guys who were throwing coins on the sidewalk, waiting for people to pick them up? We walked by a couple guys in that spot last week who were doing that, and I practically had to restrain my ten year old son from picking them up (he likes shiny things…).
