Asheville’s ChiRunning is celebrating National Running Day today with a fun event this afternoon starting at 5:30 p.m. on Orchard Street in Asheville.

Join ChiLiving as we celebrate National (and International) Running Day. Events will include a brief introduction to ChiRunning and ChiWalking as well as a guided run or walk.

You will leave with a better understanding of what ChiRunning and ChiWalking is, ideas about your form and technique, and a connection to your local Certified ChiRunning/ChiWalking Instructor and other ChiRunners and ChiWalkers in your area.

I took an introductory class to ChiRunning recently, and gained some truly helpful hints. I’ll write more about it in upcoming blog posts. Tips I picked up concerned by running form. With ChiRunning’s help, I’ve improved my stride, tried to cut down on striking my heel as I run and tried to focus more on letting gravity help propel me forward. That, combined with my CrossFit workouts, has helped me improve my times in races. My next big test will by Friday’s Chamber Challenge 5K.

Meantime, check out Asheville Citizen-Times outdoors writer (and big-time runner) Karen Chavez’s piece on ChiRunning today. And see USA Today’s recent profile of ChiRunning founder Danny Dreyer.
