Smoked hams make fine showing at National Country Ham Association’s annual competition at the Grove Park Inn

I wanted to share with you exclusive photos from the National Country Ham Association annual competition held at the Grove Park Inn last night.

While there were almost twice as many smoked as unsmoked hams submitted, North Carolina (where smoking’s still a rarirty) had a fine showing, with Goldsboro’s Wayco Old Southern Hams claiming the unsmoked crown and finishing second to Tripp Country Ham in the smoked division.

The ham clan spent the day in Boone yesterday, touring the plant that produces the ham slices for biscuits at Hardee’s and Bojangles.
