Here’s a nice little recap, complete with photos, of the recent Asheville Bread Festival at Greenlife Grocery over the weekend. From blogger BusyGradGirl:

There were bread bakeries set up with tons of samples out. The festival was a series of classes. You needed tickets to go to the classes and in order to get the tickets you bought a loaf of bread for each ticket. We tasted a lot of samples.

We saw lots of different kinds of bread. We went to a class on Kneading Basics 101. Here is our flour/yeast.

The class was taught by Emily Buehler, a chemist-turned-bread baker. The class was great. She has lots of interesting info online too. She gave a recipe for french bread that I’m looking forward to trying on my own, maybe next weekend…

We also went to another class on whole wheat bread. I bought one loaf of cranberry/whole wheat bread that was delicious. For more pics of the bread fest check out my flickr album.
