On the streets of Ashvegas: Blue Ridge Roller Girls billboards

My photography buddy Bill has had one of his shots of the Blue Ridge Roller Girls incorporated into a billboard for the team. Pretty damn awesome. Click here to check out Bill’s photo stream.

Bill says the billboards can be found:

-on Leicester Highway, near the HS

-Patton Ave, near Enka

-Hendersonville Road somewhere south before Arden (I have not seen this one yet)

-I26 SB between Elk Mt and UNCA exits

-On US70 near Warren Wilson

and

-Sweeten Creek Road, south of Fun Depot

The roller girls will have a season kick-off party (with leg-wrestling) on Saturday. Their first bout is March 13.

On a related note, I’m looking for someone interested in covering the roller girls for Ashvegas. I want someone who knows and loves roller derby and can recount their bouts with some lively prose (and maybe even a little video snippet.) Email me if you’re interested.

The Arden one right near Allstars Bar & Grill (south of soon to closed Volvo and north of Royal Pines Dr).

Bill is a wonderful photographer. He’s always out there, always experimenting and sharing his vision and usually talking up people and getting involved in events. I’m glad he gets recognition like this – he also has other stuff quietly around town like shots of AVL in the new McDonalds and others i don’t know about.

Six billboards for the BR Roller Girls? They got nuthin’ on former TV "personality" Candice Little. But that’s in number only. Blondie is pimpin’ Hunter Auto EVERYWHERE and the reference to "hot models" is pathetic. I like the skaters so much better. They actually have some talent and also way more balls than Candy.
