Tupelo Honey Cafe officially christened its new Tupelo Honey South location with a grand opening event on Monday night. Unfortunately, I missed out. But I’ve been getting some good reports.

The nondescript location in a Hendersonville Road strip shopping center belies a warmth inside. There are booths and tables and outdoor seating. Nice art on the walls, my Ashvegas spies report.

The food served up on Monday was delicious, except for the crab cakes, which I hear tasted liked cardboard. A string band played great tunes, including Wagon Wheel, done in sing-along style with the standing-room only crowd.

My spies were also impressed by the restaurant’s new employees and their zest, their enthusiasm. It’s clear that the owners of Tupelo know how to treat their employees right.

Everyone came away with a schwag bag, too. It included a bumper sticker, a pint glass and a little jar of …. tupelo honey!

Congratulations to Tupelo Honey Cafe.
