The beloved Smilefest music festival, which withered away a couple of years ago, will see new live in May 2010, according to organizers.

The event is invitation only. Lots of past Smilefest performers are said to be lined up for what they’re billing as Smilefest Reunion. The event is a music lover’s paradise. Hope you’re on the list for an invite, because it’s going to be a great event.

Loyal reader Jeff offers this schedule of spring music festivals in the mountains, if you need something to get you through the winter:

Here are local festivals scheduled for spring 2010:
* April 29-May2:  MerleFest.
* April 30-May 2: French Broad River Festival.  (Yes, it’s the same weekend as MerleFest.  It is cheaper, closer, and WAY more fun than Merle… which caters to a dryer, older crowd.)
* May 6-9:  LEAF
* May 21-23:  SmileFest Reunion.
I would like to see a festival claim Memorial Day weekend (May 28-31) and put it on a lakeside campground.

    Looks like the narcs will get to ramp up their drug bust numbers again! I bet they really missed Smilefest as well…
