My name is Silas Durocher and I’m part of a band called Soulgrass Rebellion. We are all active members of the Asheville community, in music and other areas, and are avid readers of Ashevegas. We have a show coming up on January 16th at the Emerald Lounge, and we are working our butts off to make it a huge event… not just huge in terms of attendance, but one of those really exciting downtown Asheville events that everyone wants to be at, where everyone has fun and lets loose and boogies all night and walks away thinking “Damn I live in a cool place!”
This is why I think you and your readers will be interested:
1) You can hear our music at our myspace page or our electronic press kit.
2) As I said, Soulgrass Rebellion is made up of true Asheville people…
*Oso Rey (guitar and vocals) has played with Laura Blackley, Pierce Edens and the Dirty Work, and David Earl and the Plowshares. He painted the Mo Daddy’s and Mamacitas signs. He bartends at Mo Daddy’s. He performs on the LaZoom bus.
*I (guitar) have played with Laura Reed and Deep Pocket, Afromotive, Pierce Edens and the Dirty Work, Silas Durocher and Everybody Knows, Miriam Allen and the Pasionistas. I work at the Health Adventure (kids science museum in Pack Place). I have played at Asheville’s Downtown After 5 two years in a row and we are being considered for the upcoming year. I live downtown.
*Justin Powell (upright bass) has played with David Earl and the Plowshares, Ian Thomas, and the Indigo Girls. He has done metal work with businesses throughout Asheville. He hosts a weekly jam for local musicians at Mo Daddy’s.
*Brian Jones (drums) has played with Afromotive, Pierce Edens and the Dirty Work, Ian Thomas, and the Honeycutters. He practically lives at Izzy’s in West Asheville. He also hosts the weekly jam for local musicians
3) The show at the Emerald Lounge on January 16th is going to rock. We have a lot of strong publicity in the works, we have a great opening band (Charlotte, NC favorites the New Familiars), incredible guest musicians (including members of Stephanie’s Id and Jar-e), and a very strong local following.
4) We have a great resume of Asheville performances… completely packed every venue show we’ve played since the band’s first show last may and got to play at the Just Because You’re Asheville event with Larry Keel and Galactic.
I know this email got pretty long… I really believe in this band and I really believe that your readers will be interested. Thanks so much for your time, and I hope you consider writing about us on Ashevegas. Don’t hesitate to email me with any questions about the band or the show.
Cheers,
Silas
Thanks Ashvegas!
