Looks like Tupelo Honey got an overwhelming response at its recent job fair. It’s either a sign of the greatness of Tupelo Honey and its organization, or a sign that the economy still really sucks. Or perhaps a little of both.

Press release here:

TUPELO HONEY CAFÉ’S JOB FAIR ATTRACTS OVER 400 APPLICANTS

ASHEVILLE, NC (December 8, 2009) In a job fair held Monday, November 30th through Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Tupelo Honey Café’s new south Asheville location, the restaurant received a response of over 400 candidates applying for a variety of positions, all becoming available in early 2010.

Originally the restaurant was prepared to fill an average of between 70- 90 vacancies, yet with such an overwhelming response, increased the number to 101 officially extended offers of employment. Of the 101 applicants that positions were offered, 40 of those individuals were unemployed at the time the interviews took place.

Owner Steve Fabritore said, “ We were highly impressed with the quality of service –oriented candidates, and are looking forward to having them join the Tupelo Honey family as a natural extension of our downtown location.”

Steve Frabitore assumed ownership of Tupelo Honey Café in late 2008 and has over 20 years experience in senior level executive management and ownership. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors for both the Asheville Independent Restaurant Association as well as the The North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association.
