Here’s the note I received from Susan Phillips at the Grove Park Inn. This sounds like a pretty darn good job opportunity for someone. I have a detailed job description that I’ll add a little later this afternoon.

In the meantime, you can e-mail Susan at [email protected].

I’m sending this to you in the event that you know someone locally who may be a good fit for a post-entry to mid-level PR manager position here at GPI.  The position will report to me, and will primarily be responsible for internal, local, and regional (NC state especially) PR.  We’re looking for someone who has experience, and who is a very, very good writer (they will have to write LOTS of press releases).  And, we’re really focused on selecting someone local so that they know the area, GPI, and the WNC culture/environment – anything beyond that will come in time!

I’ve had a lot of resumes from folks in other states wanting to move here, but that’s not what we’re looking for.  Also, we’ve had some interest from folks with national PR experience; however, our goal is to bring someone with good solid PR skills, and mold them into working with national opportunities, when needed (we’ll be using our advertising agency, Eric Mower & Associates, for larger, national PR issues).

With all of the layoffs throughout the area, I’m hoping that you might know someone locally who is an excellent writer, has some corporate PR experience, and can grow.  Also social media knowledge/experience will be a plus.  And, as a bonus, they will be working with a great group of folks at a beautiful location!!!!

"Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and 3 or more years of higher level corporate Public Relations and/or Communications experience is required." I knew I shouldn’t have stopped at that useless Associate Degree level!

This needs the "Best Job In The World" contest treatment. Run a contest where candidates submit a video and an essay stating the reasons why they should be selected.

I vote for Ashvegas. (See, that way I might get a special rate to stay at the GPI.)

    I love that place.

Or, Ms Phillips, I am a senior who would move back to beautiful Asheville in a NY minute to help you out. I know Facebook and Twitter, I can brag about WNC with the best of them, and I’d do it for free if you provide me room and board at the GPI and maybe a little walking-around money.

    My best regards,
    Ashvegas Dad
