Story here from the Huntington Herald-Dispatch:

HUNTINGTON — The Herald-Dispatch Publisher Pat Thompson Frantz has announced that she will retire in September, capping an award-winning, 31-year career in newspapers.

Executive Editor Ed Dawson will succeed Frantz as publisher, as well as continuing in his role as editor.

Dawson, 59, joined The Herald-Dispatch as executive editor in 2001, after two years as editor of the Chambersburg (Pa.) Public Opinion and 10 years as managing editor of the Asheville, N.C., Citizen-Times. Before that, he held various editing and news positions at the Greenville, S.C., Piedmont and the Augusta, Ga., Chronicle.

Dawson began his journalism career as a reporter and editor for the Chester News & Reporter in his hometown of Chester, S.C. He is a graduate of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., and earned a master’s degree in mass communications from the University of South Carolina
