I’m putting in a special plug here for a show tonight that’s going to be a lot of fun. Consider it a Downtown After Five afterparty. Or think of it as a party with a couple hundred of your closest friends at Mo Daddy’s, the intimate little chicken-and-waffles juke joint on Biltmore Avenue.

My buddy Blake from the Blake and Lesley Show on 880 The Revolution sent out this alert:

Lesley and I have been invited to MC the evening as Raleigh’s The Balsa Gliders bring their edgy indie rock to Asheville.

The drummer Chuck Price is a hometown boy and this is the first time they have played Asheville this year.

They have an eclectic sound and we are looking forward to hearing them live. And it sounds like a member of Arches of Loaf will be joining them for the second set.

Check them out here http://www.myspace.com/thebalsagliders

And our buddies Dan Bletz (former guitarist of the Biscuit Burners) and Steven Shealy have formed a new band called Vipers Dream and they will open it up.

So you need to come out and show some love.  The evening festivities will kick off a little before 9 PM and we recommend you getting in the door by 9 PM

OR you will be listening to the music through the wall at Mamacitas. Tickets are only $10.00.

The Balsa Gliders will be playing an unplugged set on our radio show Friday at 3:45 so can stream it live on your computer and check them out –  the link is here http://880therevolution.com/main.html just click on “Listen Live” – or listen to it in your car on 880 AM.

I’m interested to see the opening band, Viper’s Dream. I’ve known Steven Shealy for a long time, and he’s working hard to pursue his music dream. Folks need to come out and support all these guys.

So there  you have it. The Mountain Xpress also has a hit on the show in a blog post here. Check it.
