Press release below. Is this a first in Asheville – a local church conducting gay marriages? Just wondering:

First Congregational United Church of Christ will host a LGBT Marriage and Blessing Celebration on Saturday, May 2. This is an opportunity for LGBT couples to be recognized by a Christian church. All who support marriage equality are invited to attend.

LGBT couples may be married — make a life commitment to one another — or may be blessed — have their relationship recognized and affirmed. The ceremony will be held in the church sanctuary at 11:30 am, and a reception for the happy couples, friends, families, and other supporters will follow immediately in the church’s social hall. Donations for the hors d’oeuvres, flowers, and community cake will be gladly accepted.

Couples wanting to participate in the service, or anyone wishing to make a donation for the event, please call (828) 252-8729 or e-mail [email protected].

Asheville Dweller, perhaps not. But there is an impressive bibliography on the page that leads significant credence to the content, including sources such as the International Journal of Primatology, the University of Chicago press, the Cambridge University Press, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, MIT Press and other academic publications.

This is a well-known and well (and widely) documented behavior. It’s hardly obscure, rare or coming from the LGTB community. This is real science, observed, documented and published by real scientists all over the globe from almost every species.

Marriage is a legal contract, and the state should not prevent consenting adults from entering into this contract. I find it hard to believe marriage is sacred with such a high divorce rate so why should consenting adults not be allowed to enter into marriage?

Actually, Wayne, as biologist, farmers, animal researchers and zoo-keepers around the world can tell you, same-sex attraction occurs in most if not all animal populations at strikingly similar percentages to human ones, if not higher.

"No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphids. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue."
—Petter Bøckman, coordinator for the "Against Nature?" museum display in Oslo.

NC GENERAL STATUTE 51.1 REQUISITES OF MARRIAGE; SOLEMINIZATION
(A)"The consent of a male and a female person who may lawfully marry, presently to take each other as husband and wife, freely, seriously and plainly expressed by each in the presence of the other, and in the presence of an ordained minister of any religious denomination, minister of officer that such persons are husband and wife, shall be a valid and sufficient marriage; provided, that the rite of marriage among the Society of Friends, according to a form and custom peculiar to themselves, shall not be interfered with by the provisions of this Chapter: provided further, that marriages solemnized and witnessed by a local Assembly of the Baha’ is according to the usage of their religious community is valid."

If you want same-sex marriage, please move to one of the four liberal states now welcoming you home. I believe the LGBT has already indoctrinated our society into believing this is normal. This is man’s lustful desire not a predetermined sexual orientation. No other animal on the planet shares the enthusiasm for same sex attraction. It might be that the only difference between the animal kingdom and mankind is the ability of thought or choice.
