Gov. Beverly Perdue meets the AVL media

It’s guaranteed: if you’ve got a bear, you’ve got a story. What was the bear story of the week this week? The story was that N.C. Gov. Beverly Perdue saw a bear at the Governor’s Western Residence on Patton Mountain in Asheville.

The story the media should be covering is what a waste of taxpayer money it is for the governor to even have a “western residence” that’s rarely used by the governor. Perdue is facing something like a $3 billion state budget shortfall, and she’s going to have to cut. Will she have the foresight to cut the frivolous spending on the mansion on the mountain (bear or no bear)?

A bear in the mountains is news WHY? She was inside. The bear was outside. It would be newsworthy if the reverse were true or if they were both inside or outside AND in very close proximity to each other.

As for the Western Governor’s Residence being a waste…maybe. But they do use it for functions throughout the year other than being just a place for the governor to rest his/her head.

I really enjoyed the article in the CT yesterday which stated that neither Governor Perdue nor her husband could figure out how to turm the outside lights on at the mansion!!!!!

And this woman is leading our State.
