Mountain News was launched to provide local businesses with an affordable way to reach Asheville Citizen-Times subscriber households in the suburbs. Its content is not meant to "rival" that of a daily newspaper.
Even though the Asheville Citizen Times is making a profit it still needs to make more to look good on Wall Street.
yes. the citizen-times is profitable.
Is a daily newspaper economically viable in Asheville?
Ok, so I picked up a copy of "Mountain News". What a waste of my time. There is hardly any advertising and the quality off printing bites. Is is so thin I could practically see through it.
What’s with the Haywood/South Asheville content. Aren’t they a little far apart.
It’s a weak attempt to compete with the Biltmore Beacon’s parent company the Mountaineer.
Good try Hammer but you missed the boat again. And I will tell you once if I will tell you managers again, Stop Drinking the Gannett Kool-Aid.
Did you also know that take5 no longer does the additional ‘street’ anymore? I didn’t know this until I ran into a former C-Ter who informed me. I only care since ‘street’ was my baby for several months …
I do know that for awhile, the former PMN editor was trying to phase out the whole ‘Pisgah’ thing since south AVL is nowhere near Pisgah Mountain. I had to redo that mast to make ‘Pisgah’ teeny teeny. Guess they finally opted to get rid of it.
Speaking of PMN, have you heard from Julie Ball? I loved her; she was always great to work with.
